Rembering Derek Boogaard

14 05 2011

It’s always sad when you find out someone dies at such a young age. Today, New York Rangers left winger Derek Boogaard (28) was found dead in his Minneapolis apartment. Hockey’s Finest would like to extend our deepest condolences to Boogaard’s family, friends, and teammates during this tough time. Tonight, no matter who “your team” is, we all will mourn this young man’s death together. I can only hope that at tomorrow’s Game #1 of the Eastern Conf Finals they will take a moment of silence in his honor.

:(

RIP Derek, you will be missed.

Big Bogey was the only enforcer that I wished my teams (Canucks) enforcer never had to fight. Big Bogey was the biggest enforcer that I’ve ever seen (Canucks die hard fan since 1972). He knew his role really well and played it to perfection. If a player was running around or runing his mouth off Big Bogey just looked down at him, snorted and the message was received loud and clear. I was watching some of his fights earlier upon hearing the tragic news of his passing-man he could throw ’em:-)
Every time the minnesota Wild came to town there was this added layer of excitement just to see Big Bogey in the warm up nver mind when he was at full speed or when he was challenged at a face-off.
It is very sad to see anyone pass at such a young age but his family should know that he was a much respected figure in NHL and should be remembered as one of the best all-time enforcers in the history of the great game and league we fondly call the NHL.
Also, good for him to ink that huge salary with the Rangers last July. He deserved every single penny and I hope that his family is provided for.
RIP Big Bogey…RIP.
