Extended Vacation

16 09 2012

Welp. Not much to say about this. I tried to ignore the fact that it could happen …. and that didn’t work.

However, the boys were nice enough to put together a little message for all the fans.

Lets just hope the season still starts on time.

What happens in Olympic Village, stays in Olympic Village…

2 08 2012

…apparently.

Normally, I wouldn’t post something like this. But it involves some of our beloved hockey players. And to be quite honest, I found it to be absolutely HILARIOUS.

It does deserve a disclaimer, I believe. I’d say anyone under 18 probably shouldn’t read it. But then again….ESPN is the one who posted it. So, do what you will…but don’t say I didn’t warn ya :)

Ever wonder what happens at the Olympics? More specifically in the Olympic Village?? Some Olympians, Bobby Ryan being one of them, opened up about the secrets (or not so secret) of the Olympic Village.

Here’s a little sneak peek:

So, who wants to go to Russia in 2014? I’m in…

Has it been a year already!?

12 05 2012

S & I can’t believe it. Our little baby is 1 years old today!

We feel like it was just yesterday that we birthed her and now she’s almost ready to walk on her own!

For reals, it’s Hockey’s Finest birthday and we’re stoked. When we signed up for this little shindig — we gave it 1 year. If it didn’t survive, we’d pull the plug. But look at us! We’re still here! And with more writers!

It’s all thanks to Y.O.U.

hugs all around.

We know we skip out on a few teams every once and a while and we vow to try harder next season to cover EVERYONE. And while we’re on the topic of improvement…let’s kick the ball into your court. We’re open to suggestions. What would you like to see this next year? More stats? More yummy goodness? Any specific teams/players?

How about this off season? We know how the withdrawls feel, so we want to keep y’all as hydrated as humanly possible. Swimming in a sea of hockey during those hot summer nights. Anything you’d like us to cover specifically? Or a player to be on the look out for?

I feel like this next season should be dedicated to all our loyal readers. So seriously, comment away! Both negative & positive. We can handle it. We don’t cry….that easy.

For serious, we love you guys. And thank you for reading our random thoughts. Stick around. It’s gonna be one hell of a ride the next year :)

Love,

The Hockey’s Finest Girls

XOXO

Happy Birthday to us!

This post is dedicated to our dedicated blogger L…

24 01 2012

in celebration of her husband being added to the All-Star game roster.

Eberle, Johnson, and Letang have been added to the roster, and of course this would change my previous post about the hotties who made the cut- because Letang is fully deserving.

That wild fan in the back really does a nice job capturing the emotion of L when this announcement was made.

Yeah, baby!

And a little bit of this, too…

– Anyone else as excited or equally disappointed about these changes as L is? I am just happy to see another guy cleared to play. Being added to this list is certainly a bonus.  D

Every thing about this makes me happy-

20 01 2012

Did you see that Bruin’s third period come-back last night? THIS is why they say never stop playing the game. It isn’t over until that final buzzer sounds. I love hockey because they play so many games. Each time these teams meet a completely different outcome may occur. One team might be having a tough week and another team might capitalize on that. Hockey is so hard to predict. Who doesn’t love that?

There are so many amazing games happening this weekend. The standings might be totally reorganized come Monday! Happy weekend and happy hockey-watching.

Cheers to the freakin’ weekend…

13 01 2012

I’ll drink to that!  And by drink I mean a big fat French vanilla cappuccino from Tim Horton’s in honor of the 2012 Tim Horton’s All-Star Game! BAM! We are definitely deprived of this liquid gold in the Boston area. If you find yourself in the vicinity of one of these coffee

shops, GO IN! You won’t be disappointed.

In honor of this glorious event, I have decided to create my own line of  “All-Stars.” Let’s face it. These players who made the cut did so because they are the best of the best. We all have our favorites or think someone should have made it over someone who did. (I will bite my tongue here- I feel very strongly that a few of these people aren’t entirely deserving  but when I signed on to this gig L made me promise I wouldn’t bash.) My All-Stars look just as good on the ice as they would featured in a calendar. Let me know if you agree with me or who you would replace on my line.

My Offensive Line:

1. Tyler Seguin: There is no better player to fill this number one spot. I think he is one of the most adorable players. Not the most masculine choice of adjectives but he is literally a child. I hope his pretty little face, and perfect teeth stay just the way they are because some of these vets have some frightening looking scars. Although when placed carefully can actually be kind of sexy. To add to this perfect little package, Ty Ty even has a Stanley Cup RING!

2. Jonathan Toews: This should make my fellow bloggers happy. I know you ladies like his drool-worthy-self. His abdominal region is godly.

3. Patrick Kane: I hear he is a real tool, but as far as looks, he makes the cut. We are not judging date-ability here, just hotness factor, and I think he has it. He even looks like a stallion in his mug-shot… can’t hate that! Sorry for PARTY ROCKIN!

I understand my offensive line doesn’t make a lot of sense together on the ice, but good God would they make a handsome boy-band. Step aside Jo-Bros!

My Defensive Line:

4. Ryan Suter: Aside from those mysterious eyes, he was a 1st rounder- which adds a tad of sex appeal. He is also a dog-lover, represented Team USA in the Olympics and SUPPORTS OUR TROOPS!  Enough said.

5. Dan Girardi: Best baby blues in the league, hands down. And I will make no apology for the scar across his nose, it adds character to his meticulously chiseled face, it makes him more human and less statuesque- if that is even possible.

Between the pipes, not really having many options to choose from, I will go with Carey Price. A solid rival of my home-town team but he is cute. Goal-tenders wear so much equipment that you can barely tell who they are anyway.  And from what I hear our beloved net-minders are a  little “different” if you will… but that might be what you are in to. I don’t judge.

Who knew something so cute was hiding under that mask.

What do you guys think- pretty handsome line-up, eh??

As the “resident hockey wife,” as L and S have so graciously named me, I am really looking forward to the All-Star break. For those of you who don’t know- aside from a showdown of the best of the best, it is four days uninterrupted in any way shape or form for the rest of the players and their families. Don’t get me wrong I love the sport and everything that comes along with it… even this crazy lifestyle. I spend a good chunk of my free time in planes, trains, and automobiles getting to the hockey rink to support my main man and his team for the love of the game. But sometimes a break is nice! I will be watching the game complete with original color-commentary about each player by my fiancé. It is a really educational experience where I get a lot of my insider information. This experience goes quite nicely with a bottle of Pinot. CHEERS! – D

What if??

27 08 2011

Have you ever stopped to think, “what if my team didn’t have this roster?” …

Well, here’s a different scenario. NHL.com posted a nice story–or draft, I should say…and let me tell you, it’s interesting.

“It took six hours, 15 people and 5 large cheese pizzas to get it done, but we drafted 690 hockey players to fill out 30 NHL rosters, and here they are.”

Here are some of my personal favorites:

Sid to Oilers??

Ovi to FL...ha!

And S & I’s favs…

Tanger to the Blues....so sad...

and I’m pretty sure S would drop dead if….

JStaal was ever playing for the Bolts...

And a few other highlights of the draft…

Islanders — Geno & PK

Senators — Luongo & The Neal Mobile

Leafs — Mike Green & Baby Segs

Devils — Max

Blue Jackets — Toews, Nash, Rask, Horton, and M. Staal (Stanley Cup winning team??)

Canes — Stammer & Sharp

Rangers — Jagr

Blackhawks — TIMMY T! …and Kesler :)

Pens —  E. Staal (at least they keep one Staal)

Red Wings — PKane & Vinny Lecavalier

Flyers — Jeff Skinner (so adorbs), Lucic, & Price

Caps — Flower (ha, Flower to the Caps…poor boy)

Canucks — Big Z.

So there are ton more that I missed, but these are the ones that caught my eyes. Feel free to check out the whole draft. It’s pretty cool. Kinda makes you think….

Hmmm….
